Bakare Instrumental To My Joining Politics, Says El-Rufai


Some prominent Nigerians including Chief Ayo Adebanjo and Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Friday urged renowned cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare, to return to active politics.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Bakare bowed out of active politics after his election bid as a running mate to the Presidential Candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), in 2011.

Speaking at the launch of Bakare’s biography in Lagos, Adebanjo, also a lawyer, said Bakare would be doing disservice to Nigeria if he refused to go back to politics.

The Kwara State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has clarified that it has not zoned its governorship ticket to any of the three senatorial districts in the state.

The governorship candidate of the party, according to the state PDP chairman, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, could emerge from any senatorial district.

Boko Haram: Borno Residents Tell Govt To Enlist Vigilantes, Hunters To Liberate Captured Towns


Residents of Borno on Friday appealed to the state government to enlist the services of local hunters and vigilantes in liberating towns captured by the Boko Haram insurgents.

A cross section of those interviewed by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Maiduguri said the state must emulate neigbouring Adamawa by allowing hunters and members of the vigilance groups in the state to assist in tackling the problem.

Mr Olakunle Oluomo, member, Ogun House of Assembly, on Saturday, said defection of some members of the House to other parties would not affect the chances of All Progressive Congress in the 2015 general elections.

Chief Ike Obasi, the President-General of Imo Community Assembly, Abuja, has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure speedy completion of the second Niger Bridge to facilitate easy movement of traffic.
