Yaya Toure Claims the African Player of the Year for a Record Fourth Successive Time.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has claimed the Confederation of African Football (Caf) African Player of the Year for a fourth time.

The Coat d’Ivoire international becomes the second player to clinch the annual accolade for a fourth time after Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’O, but sets a record for claiming it four times in quick successions. Toure, 31, earned 175 votes ahead of Gabon and Borussia Dortmund’s forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (120) and Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama (105), who plies his trade with French Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille. Coaches and captains of the national teams from the Caf region participated in the suffrage.
