Synagogue: Collapsed Building Had No Permit – Consultant

A town planner who worked for Pastor TB Joshua, Bisi Adedire, told an inquest on Thursday that the building which collapsed at Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) and killed 116 people, had no planning approval.

According to him, the lack of approval did not mean the building was not solidly built, but he told the coroner that he warned church officials against ignoring regulations.

“I told the church they have contravened the law in a way by building without approval but they said they could regularise it,” he said.

Adedire stressed that having planning approval does not guarantee the quality of a building, arguing that the church’s failure to follow protocol was an administrative issue which likely had nothing to do with the collapse.

State Officials have alleged that other buildings at the SCOAN were not well built. Joshua has claimed that the collapse was a result of sabotage, which several testifiers have dismissed.
He has however ignored summonses to testify on three occasions.
