Man v. Food Star Adam Richman Goes VeganTV Guide

Richman, who routinely devoured steaks, burgers, and other meat-laden products on the Travel Channel series, told the UK's Independentlast week that he's been vegan for about three months as he trains for soccer season.

This isn't the first time Richman has adopted a vegan diet, but he also clarifies that he won't promise never to touch meat again.

Man v. Food's Adam Richman loses 60 pounds "Does that mean I'm not going to have a steak? No," he tells the Independent. "I absolutely will when I want to, but it's just about picking and choosing my spots. And when I want to have that cow and I want to have that bacon, I'm going to make it count. I'm going to make it great quality.

" Richman's new approach to eating is motivated in part by his upcoming participation in Soccer Aid, a celebrity event sponsored by UNICEF.

But he also has been on a recent weight-loss kick- and dropping 70 pounds spurred him to pose nakedfor Cosmopolitan magazine last year.

"I don't feel like I'm living a restrictive life," Richman says. "I'm not on like a paleo diet. I eat healthily, I budget calorically, I stay active, I live a full life. ... If you take steps to stave off the potentially adverse effects of what you're eating, you can have your cake and eat it too."
